I’m posting this on Tuesday morning, Terry and my anniversary!! We are going away this weekend and I cannot wait. We are overdue. We are headed to Southport and Oak Island. Neither of us has ever been so I’m super excited about this trip. It is so nice to live in a state that offers some much. We have not only the beaches but and the mountains also.
I had the opportunity to share my testimony this past Thursday night. The ministry leader of Celebrate Recovery at our church, Mt. Olive FPH; asked if I would speak on their next meeting. It’s been a while since I have given my testimony. To tell the truth my automatic response was no, but I talked it over with Terry and he encouraged me to do it.
It’s been a long time since I was at CR. I use to help teach and co-lead a women’s small group. Ladies that had substance abuse, currently or in recovery. CR is a bible based recovery support program, that reaches out to not only the alcoholic and drug addict but ANYONE with ANY kind of hang up or problem. From eating to gambling to sexual; and the enabler. They (we, I still consider myself part of CR) come along side people to encourage offer support and accountability. We are not there to fix one another, but to help walk this life out. The enemy wants us alone because that’s where we are weak. If we are together in faith and standing on God’s promises we can stand firm against the enemy. Celebrate Recovery gives us the map to recover and it’s all in the Bible.
I was hesitant to tell my story only because I have given it before at CR and a few other places. You know how the enemy likes to get in your mind. “What’s new at CR?”, “it’s the same ole story”, that kind of thing. That’s what I struggle with the MOST is my mind and here I go again letting it take control over me again. I NEEDED to hear my story again. Sometime we forget what all God has done for us; He is capable of doing them again. So I told my story again, in the same place that I found freedom. The Word says “where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”-2 Corinthians 3:17 ESV
Tell your story, tell your story, TELL YOUR STORY!!!! Again and again. Not only do other people need to hear it to receive hope that God promises; we need to hear our own stories. Below are some pictures taken that night. I wasn’t going to post the one of me at the podium because my eyes are closed, lol. It’s funny to me though, that’s how I walked a lot of my life. With my eyes closed.
I will post a link to the church’s website if you want more information on Celebrate Recovery. https://www.mofphc.org/
