It's the Holiday Season
Happy December 1st, ladies!!!
2020 is coming to an end. How excited are we about that?? I am thankful for this year, though. I have learned a lot about myself. As I am sure you all have as well.
I did take time to take advantage of the Black Friday, Shop Local Saturday and Cyber Monday sales. Just about finished my shopping for the family. All but the stockings. Yes, my children are grown and they STILL get stockings and Santa Claus. LOL...I know but I so enjoy doing it. Its tradition. Hopefully they get married and have children they will pass it on to their children.
Since we are officially in the holiday season now lets not forget those who are sick, home bound, lonely; you know, those "less fortunate". I am sure we all know someone that could use some extra love this season. Especially since Covid has kept most of us isolated. Sending a card of hope and encouragement has a way of doing that. I love to still receive mail. There is something very special and personal about receiving a letter the old fashion way.
We tend to put a lot of emphases on preparing a gift or even a card. It has to be package just right, say just the right words, the prefect quote or scripture verse. We forget the reason we started to do the gifting in the first place. That's just like us though as humans. It has to be the greatest, the grandest, PREFECT. Most of us aren't looking perfect, just authentic. The real thing. A gift or card given out of love means everything.
So if you are impressed to do something this season for someone, do it don't wait. You may not get that change again and it just may change that's person's life.
Later this week I will be sharing some deals I got at a local boutique. They have EVERYTHING you need for Christmas gifts. Also, I'm leaving to go on a mountain getaway with some family so I super excited about that.
Thanks for stopping by. Don't for get to leave a comment, question or suggestion. Subscribe to the email list so you don't miss a post.
Blessings,

Changes, Changes and More Changes
Well, Hello ladies!
Yes...I know it has been a while since I posted on my blog. Honestly, I just didn't have it in me. With so much going on and I know everyone does, it really was not in me to do it.
The next few statements I am going to make are as political as I am going to get on here. First and last time. I say that because it was a direct effect of why I was not blogging.
I have always enjoyed the elections, local and national. I would always, ALWAYS sit with my daddy in front of the TV and watch all the debates, commercials, documentaries, all the things. I loved this time with daddy. Daddy was an Army veteran, serving three tours in Korea. He never talked about the war or his time in the Army, but I know he loved his country and the things that are happening now....well I can see him just shaking his head.
This election, this election....we all have views on all the subjects; we always have that's what makes this country so great. Its ok to be different. Well something changed this time though. I am not opposed to have discussion about different topics and having an open mind about things. This is part of the reason I loved watching politics with Daddy. Now we are just hollering at each other. Everyone wants to be right and not necessarily better. It is breaking my heart.
My kids and I are close, super close. For a while it was just us three. I taught them to have their own minds, make there own decisions. As long those didn't hurt them or others, was beneficial to them and to stand up for what is right. People are to be treated just as that, people. They have grown into two of the most beautiful people I have ever known. The are active citizens of their communities, hard working, paying their own way and volunteering when they can.
This election has been the hardest to watch and talk about with my kids. Because we all have different opinions and it was effecting me so bad that the day before the Presidential election I stopped watching all TV or listening to any media of any kind. To me, just my opinion; it hit me like a ton of bricks. I let the media, all of it directly effect my thinking. Instead of researching and reading articles for myself, as I was taught by my daddy; I let the media do it for me. AND I LET IT HAPPEN!! So the night of the election I prayed and went to bed at 7:30. Slept the best I have in a while.
I had to remember that whatever President is in office, my God is on His Throne. In the end this place is just temporary. We are called to love, support and "do right" by people. As my daughter says, "just be a good human". Like I said, this is the first and last political post I will put up here (hopefully).
We can all do better, ALL of us including me.
In other news..... I went to the hair salon this past Friday and got a new do. And I am LOVING it. (see below) Thank you Jennifer Lynch at utlimate raaz.
Remember ladies, sometimes change isn't so bad. It's the fear of the unknown that makes us worry. God sees everything and it is not unnoticed. He has got this and you, too.
Have a great week. Please leave a comment or suggestion for a post.
Blessings,

Well Hello
Well Hello friends! Its been a little while since my last post. Hope everyone is doing well. The weather has turned a tad bit cooler here in Eastern NC and I am so thankful for that. The humidity can get a bit much. Earlier last week I thought I was going to have to cut the air with a knife to get to my car, the humidity was so thick, lol.

Last Minute Mother's Day Gifts
I know....2 posts in one week!! I'm shocked too! Ha, ha.
I was thinking about Mother's Day Sunday and how different its going to be this year. I don't much of my family will be over this year because Corona/COVID-19 is still hanging around. I know that my daughter has to work and my son will probably make an appearance. I don't know about the other children and grandchildren, I hope they do show up even if its just for a few minutes.
Anyway... I know a lot of our schedules are out of sorts and even though some of us are home the days tend to fly by and now Mother's Day is just a few days away. I thought I would share some of the things I like with you all. They are all inexpensive and thoughtful. Most of them can be found at the few stores that are still open; i.e. Target, Walmart, Walgreens, and the grocery stores that have a floral or garden center. The Piggly Wiggly I work at has both.
So first up is of course flowers. I love all flowers. Hanging baskets, potted plants or a bouquet. The more colorful the more I like them. You can usually get these at a deal right before Mother's Day.
Second, I thought of family photos on greeting cards. You could take your children to make these at Walgreens. They have an array of templates to choose from. I have pretty good luck with these. Again, inexpensive and it will mean the world to your mom, wife are grandmother to have this personalized. I usually get mine the same day. So turn around is quick.
Next is the good ole standard coffee cup. They are always a winner at my house. You could get a plain white or colored cup, stop by arts and crafts in Walmart to pick up some cheap paint and brushes to make a sweet display on the side of the cup for your mom. Those tend to go over every well. Especially when younger kids are involved.
Essential Oils and diffusers are big now. I have one and I think it helps me relax. The ones I have here are found at Target are priced from $15.99 to $27.99. Some light up; you can adjust the settings on them to continuously be on or intervals. The oils can be bought by single bottle or in a kit. The kit is around $15 for a kit of four of .25 oz each bottle.
Books are always laying around at my house. I have always loved to read. As I got older I fell in love with reading and studying the Bible. So a Bible study is a great gift as well. Target and Walmart will be a good place to find those. Also, devotions are welcome at my house.
Lastly, breakfast in bed. Yes, your mom, including me would love to pampered in the morning with breakfast. I have always thought was the sweetest thing for the children to help make breakfast and surprise mom with how much they love her through food. Its so sweet and special.
I hope these ideas helped some. Like I was saying, Mother's Day is going to be a little different this year. Its ok though, we will get through this and in the years to come we will all be talking about it surrounded with our families. I pray its sooner than later.
As always, thanks for stopping by and visiting. Please leave a comment or suggestion if you would like to hear of something else. Bible study ideas, recipes, work outs, anything that will help and encourage us along the way.
Have a great week!
Blessings.

Getting Ready
It has been a little bit since I have posted. You would think I have extra time since we are supposed to be staying home during this pandemic.....well, people in Mt. Olive seem to think since they cannot go anywhere else they go to the Piggly Wiggly where I work, everyday. Sometimes two times a day.
Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful. Beyond grateful. But it does have its long hours, impatience, among other things that I am not going to post here. Here is the place for positivity, love, makeup, skincare, all things family and encouragement.
Anyhoooo....I did get some time earlier this week to take a few pictures to post today. I put together a couple of outfits. Some I forgot I had, lol. Terry and I, along with everyone else have decided to do a little remolding. We chose to start with the closets. Mainly his because I just do not want to mess with mine right now.
While he was doing that, I wanted to put together a few outfits for casual day or night look. Mainly for spring. Lately since we've been homebound other than going to work, my wardrobe has consisted of uniforms, workout gear and tennis shoes. I needed wedges, heels and some nice feel good clothing on! I have always loved to dress up. That was one of the reasons I liked to work at the bank.
Like I said, these pieces are ones I have had for a while. I love them though and hope you do too!

New Things
Its Easter weekend! Even though Easter is going to be a little different, ok, a lot different this year; I'm still going to find the joy and blessings in it! The Tomb is still empty!! There is great joy in that!
This week I think has been the toughest for me personally and mentally during this whole pandemic situation.
I have seen more people wearing masks and gloves than they were last week. More people being reserve and taking care not to come within so many feet of each other. There is no more small talk or a smile, nod, a quick "Hi, how are you?". In the store where I work it is get in and get out. I would have NEVER thought our little community would be effected this way. I have even noticed some panic and anxiety; my own to be quite honest. But I have seen it in others...acting a way of selfishness and just plain rude. I guess it is the unknown that gets us "worked up". We don't know how to act in a situation like this, so reaction is what we do. The whole thing is just scary to me and I try to remember we are all in this together. We are all trying to find a different groove but me personally having to be in the public seeing some of the things I see it just blows my mind and that is the one thing I really try to protect.
In my devotional time this morning I read part of Matthew 28.20b. Our Pastor has been encouraging us thru the week to read scripture related to Easter. Today, we read from the book of Matthew, "And remember, I am with you always, to the end of age". (ESV) That's it. We have to remember that no matter what is going on in our lives that God is with us always, ALWAYS. He will never leave us. I just have to give Him praise for that because for me, I react to situations quicker than I should. That's why I read and stay in the Word so much. Its my protection. Even though these things are out of my control I do know the one Who is in control. Nothing surprises Him, this pandemic has not threw Him for a loop like it did us. There is a reason for all of this. I pray that our minds, body and hearts are healed thru this quarantine time. I pray that we are are created new and leave the old way we did things in the past.
I hope this encourages you in some way. It did me this morning. Just getting alone with the Lord and reading His Word usually does it for me. Like I said, I can easily get caught up in the frantic madness of what is going on around me at work. But, when I come home, I try to get back to what grounds me. Please pray for everyone that has to be in this mess. Everyone of my immediate family members have to work with the public. Healthcare, retail and wholesale. Also, pray for our, your; pastors and families. They are missing their church families something fierce.
I do want to share with you a little beverage receipe I posted on IG and FB yesterday. Ususally when I go to the salon to get my hair done I stop by Starbucks and get a coffee. Well since I dont know when I will get back to Goldsboro to do that I made my own. The receipe will follow.
I hope you all have a wonderful Easter. Praying we all return to our friends and family sooner than later. Please stay safe and well out there. Don't forget to stop by and say "Hi", leave a comment or subscribe so you don't miss a post.
Blessings,
Dawn

Workout Wear
The first outfit is for the chilly mornings when you are out for your early morning walk or run. I do neither of those, lol. I have to be up early but early for work. Although, I do tend to be cold natured; this Turtle Neck Thermal shirt with pockets is just right. The shirt is long enough to cover all the important parts; super soft and comfortable. Light weight so if i do get a little active I will not have to change out of it. The shirt is from JCP, St. John's Bay. Which I was really surprised that St. John's Bay had an active wear line. JCP is having a great online sale now until 3/29. If you use the Code FRIENDS you get an extra 30% off your purchase.
The St. John's Bay top is available in 5 colors and sizes small-petite sm-xlg. Its actually on clearance for $6.39!!!!

Victoria's Secret is what I chose to pair this with. You will notice that most of my leggings are black and high waisted. I like the way the black color is more forgiving in certain areas. The high waist helps to cinch my waist. These leggings are on sale too! https://www.victoriassecret.com/vs/sport
The next outfit is totally Xersion. I am in love with this line right now. I love the way they feel. I love that I can put them in the washer and dryer and they keep their shape. I don't like clothes that take a lot of up keep.
The top is Xersion U neck sleeveless. Long and flowing, like I like it. You could also tie it for a convience if needed. This come sin 3 colors, sizes xs-xxlg. Price is $12.99
Xersion leggings in of course, black. There are little pockets on the side of the legs which I think is cute and useful for hold you phone or car key fob. Comes in 2 colors; black and navy blue, sizes s-xlg. The price of the leggings are $30 but you can apply the code and get the sale price.

As always, I hope this was useful to you today. Maybe it help take your mind off of some of the craziness that is going on right now. Staying at home and staying put is hard but, we need to do this in order to go to the next step.
Keep trusting and believing God, He knows what He is doing. That's the only way I'm keeping my sanity right now. I know God is faithful and He is for us.
I love you guys. Please leave a comment, suggestion or just say Hi.

Tell It, Girl
I’m posting this on Tuesday morning, Terry and my anniversary!! We are going away this weekend and I cannot wait. We are overdue. We are headed to Southport and Oak Island. Neither of us has ever been so I’m super excited about this trip. It is so nice to live in a state that offers some much. We have not only the beaches but and the mountains also.
I had the opportunity to share my testimony this past Thursday night. The ministry leader of Celebrate Recovery at our church, Mt. Olive FPH; asked if I would speak on their next meeting. It’s been a while since I have given my testimony. To tell the truth my automatic response was no, but I talked it over with Terry and he encouraged me to do it.
It’s been a long time since I was at CR. I use to help teach and co-lead a women’s small group. Ladies that had substance abuse, currently or in recovery. CR is a bible based recovery support program, that reaches out to not only the alcoholic and drug addict but ANYONE with ANY kind of hang up or problem. From eating to gambling to sexual; and the enabler. They (we, I still consider myself part of CR) come along side people to encourage offer support and accountability. We are not there to fix one another, but to help walk this life out. The enemy wants us alone because that’s where we are weak. If we are together in faith and standing on God’s promises we can stand firm against the enemy. Celebrate Recovery gives us the map to recover and it’s all in the Bible.
I was hesitant to tell my story only because I have given it before at CR and a few other places. You know how the enemy likes to get in your mind. “What’s new at CR?”, “it’s the same ole story”, that kind of thing. That’s what I struggle with the MOST is my mind and here I go again letting it take control over me again. I NEEDED to hear my story again. Sometime we forget what all God has done for us; He is capable of doing them again. So I told my story again, in the same place that I found freedom. The Word says “where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”-2 Corinthians 3:17 ESV
Tell your story, tell your story, TELL YOUR STORY!!!! Again and again. Not only do other people need to hear it to receive hope that God promises; we need to hear our own stories. Below are some pictures taken that night. I wasn’t going to post the one of me at the podium because my eyes are closed, lol. It’s funny to me though, that’s how I walked a lot of my life. With my eyes closed.
I will post a link to the church’s website if you want more information on Celebrate Recovery. https://www.mofphc.org/

Something New is in Town
Done the normal; went to work. Ordered some cupcakes for tomorrow night for our girls ministry. They love it when Angie and I bring treats. Sent out a few LimeLife orders and done a little light housekeeping. As in fed the cats and folded laundry. I thought when the kids left home the laundry would stop some. Evidently I was wrong.
Well let me get to what I wanted to talk to you all about today. There is a new boutique in town and I am so excited!!! You hear me EXCITED!!!! One reason is because it belongs to one of my very besties. We have been through so much together and I just so excited for her. She opened her boutique at the salon works at. She named it "Southern Drawl". It is just precious. I texted to her to see if I could shop a little bit, because she has not had her Grand Opening yet. So I went in and the pieces she carries is more toward our age group. Mature older women (40+) that still want to dress modern and chic. Just because we are grandmothers now doesn't mean we don't want to be trendy and fabulous, lol.
It is a funky little place. I will share the photos below. There will be more to come. "Southern Drawl" is located at Roy's Salon on Breazeale Ave in Mt. Olive, NC. The owner is Belinda Sessoms and she is just the best.
The following pictures were taken in my office/guest bedroom. I purchased these two tops and maxi dress. I love them all but the dress is my absolute favorite. It has POCKETS!!! The brand is all by Crazy Train. I love them because you can dress them up or leave them casual for just running around town. The size is small in all them. There are available in all sizes and from what I have tired on they are true to size. Which is huge bonus because I have trouble with the length in some boutique clothing.
