Something New is in Town

Hi everyone!! I hope you all have had a good Tuesday. I have, a busy one for sure, but good.

Done the normal; went to work. Ordered some cupcakes for tomorrow night for our girls ministry. They love it when Angie and I bring treats. Sent out a few LimeLife orders and done a little light housekeeping. As in fed the cats and folded laundry. I thought when the kids left home the laundry would stop some. Evidently I was wrong.

Well let me get to what I wanted to talk to you all about today. There is a new boutique in town and I am so excited!!! You hear me EXCITED!!!! One reason is because it belongs to one of my very besties. We have been through so much together and I just so excited for her. She opened her boutique at the salon works at. She named it "Southern Drawl". It is just precious. I texted to her to see if I could shop a little bit, because she has not had her Grand Opening yet. So I went in and the pieces she carries is more toward our age group. Mature older women (40+) that still want to dress modern and chic. Just because we are grandmothers now doesn't mean we don't want to be trendy and fabulous, lol.

It is a funky little place. I will share the photos below. There will be more to come. "Southern Drawl" is located at Roy's Salon on Breazeale Ave in Mt. Olive, NC. The owner is Belinda Sessoms and she is just the best.

The following pictures were taken in my office/guest bedroom. I purchased these two tops and maxi dress. I love them all but the dress is my absolute favorite. It has POCKETS!!! The brand is all by Crazy Train. I love them because you can dress them up or leave them casual for just running around town. The size is small in all them. There are available in all sizes and from what I have tired on they are true to size. Which is huge bonus because I have trouble with the length in some boutique clothing.
This top is so comfortable. I paired it with AE white  destressed skinny jeans, size 4. Along with a pair of Limelight nude wedges. They belong to my daughter, shhhh we won’t tell her, lol. Size 7

Another option I chose was the dark skinny jean from AE, size 2 with chunk open toe booties. They are the brand Allegra from Amazon, size 6 1/2.

My most favorite purchase is this maxi dress; size small. I have on tan wedges with the dress but I could actually wear flat sandals. THIS makes me so HAPPY! I have the hardest time with maxi dresses, but this one is perfect and I love the back.
Last but not least is this tunic top with bell sleeves. Adorable. I have on a pair of mules from Liz         Claiborne, size 6 1/2. You can add any accessories to this look. Or switch out the miles for some high heels. Whatever you like. That’s the wonderful thing these pieces so can do anything with them.

So that’s it. Stop by and shop with “Southern Drawl” and let me know what you think.
As always, thanks again for stopping by and spending time with me. Don’t forget to subscribe to the blog so you don’t miss a post. Let me know what you think or any suggestions on future posts also share with your friends.

Prepping for the Week

Hi everyone!!

The weekend has flew by again and I was home for most of it. Although, we did go to a dear friend's surprise birthday party and of course out for Valentine's.

Speaking of Valentines, I hope you all had a fabulous day or night with your honeys. I did! Terry and  I went to Alfredo's Ristorane Italiano in Clinton Friday night. I do love that place. It wasn't as busy as I thought it was going to be. Their pasta is phenomenal. I think I have tried most of what is on the menu except for the pizzas. Terry and I didn't exchange gifts other than buying each other a card. I rather spend time with my man.

We also attended a surprise birthday party Saturday night. It was for one of my closest girlfriend's husband. That was fun. Seeing the expression on his face. She got him good. It was really nice to see all those people come together for such a special time and celebrate. Their daughter gave a little speech on how special her father is to her and the rest of the family. It was a tear jerker sure. It was just a wonderful time of fellowship, sharing memories and celebrating life. Something we all need more of. I was glad to be a part of it.

While I was preparing supper, dinner; whatever you may call it,lol...I usually prep my breakfast for part of the week. I get up so early in the mornings I really don't want to have to do it then. So on Sunday afternoon/evenings I make overnight oats. I didn't like oatmeal as a kid but these I love, plus they are so easy. You can make any combination of oatmeal you like. This is why I like oatmeal. You can use fresh or frozen fruit, nuts, almonds, protein powder, peanut butter, preserves any thing. Today I made 3 different kinds and I use the same formula for all of them. I purchased the pint mason jars at Target.

Chocolate Chip Oats
1/2 c. oats (steel cut or old fashioned)
1/2 c. Almond Milk (I used unsweetened)
1/4 tsp. of salt
1/2 tsp. cocoa
1 tsp. peanut butter
1/4 c. semi sweet chocolate chips
I crushed a few almonds to sprinkle in the oats.

Raisin and Nut Oats
1/2 c. oats
1/2 c Almond Milk
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 honey
1/2 tsp Protein Powder (your choice)
I crushed a few almonds to sprinkle in oats.

Strawberries and Cream Oats
1/2 c. oats
1/2 c. Almond Milk
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. Strawberry Preserves
1/2 tsp. Nut Butter (your choice)
1/4 tsp. Protein Powder (your choice)
Couple of frozen/fresh strawberries (I used frozen)

Stir all ingredients together until well mixed. Place ring and lid on jars, refrigerate overnight. In the mornigs I add just a splash more of Almond milk. The oats will be thick. I heat mine in the microwave (remove metal ring and lid) for anywhere to 45 seconds to a minute. Stir and heat again for another 25-30 seconds. BE CAREFUL THE JARS ARE HOT!!!

I can basically eat this every morning. I don't stray far from this unless it is eggs or yogurt with granola. I'm pretty boring in the mornings. This is something I started during the last corporate fast at church. I reached out to a friend of mine for suggestions;  I needed to get some extra protein in my diet and this worked for me and its healthy. A win win both ways.

Well, I gotta jump off here and get ready for church tonight. I hope you all have a blessed week and this post helped you in some way. Remember to leave a comment or just say Hi!

As always, thank you for stopping by and visiting!

Blessings,

Dawn

Tuesdays Are For Catching Up

Good afternoon everyone!

It has been a busy week already and it is only TUESDAY! Does anyone else feel like they are behind schedule? I know this post is going up late, I'm truly sorry. I may have to change my post days to later in the week. The weekends tend to get busy around the Weeks Place. I'm sure you know what I mean.

I went to see my children in Wilmington Saturday. That is always so much fun. I haven't seen them in a few weeks and I tend to get a little ansty when I don't see them on a regular. I honestly don't know what I would do if they lived out of state. Hopefully, I won't have to find out! Anyway, we had lunch at the Carolina Ale House. I met a friend of Brittany's, she was an extremely nice young lady. She could go for Brittany's sister, they looked so much alike. Then we left and went to another favorite place of mine, HOME GOODS! I love that store.

I could walk around that place for hours. That is Brian's least favorite thing to do, shop, lol. Typical man...I found some throw pillows to go on the couch in the living room. They are at a great price, 2 for $24.99. I also picked a decorative pillow for $16.99. The pillows are from the brand Rodeo Home. 100% feathered filled so I'm praying the last a while. The picture of the pillows are below. I usually don't find something that fast when I'm looking specifically for an item. I was tickled, so was Brian, lol. Now, Brittany will hang right in there and shop with me.

Today, I posted on my page an outfit that I wore to Wilmington this weekend. I love to dress up but, I also like to be comfortable and trendy. I love colors, all colors; not all colors look good on me so I gravitate toward the classic black and white. To me, this is very stylish and always in no matter the season.

The blouse I'm wearing is an a.n.a. top from JCP.com in size small. There is sale online for these for $11.83.  Black Gap skinny jeans size 4. They have sizes that go up to 12; I think. The white jean jacket is also from JCP.com. a.n.a., size small. The blue is only available on the website now. Price point is $27.99, goes up to XL. I paired these Time and True shoes from Walmart with this look. I bought a size 6 1/2, but I think I could have sized down 1/2 size. Oh well, they were only $15! When I cannot find anything to wear, black and white will work in a pinch.

I was going to include some tips I use when I style my hair curly, but that will have to be for another day. I have a leadership meeting at church tonight and I have a few orders I have to get ready to go out.

As always thanks for stopping by and visiting. Please leave a comment or suggestion. I would love to hear from you.

Have a great week!

Blessings,

Dawn

Super Bowl Sunday

Who's ready for some football?

Not me!!! Lol...I like college football, but that's just me.

Today I'm sharing some information on a Facebook page I started yesterday. It is called "Magnolia Lifestyle". I hope you stop by and like the page. I am trying to use this page instead of my personal FB page for the LimeLife by Alcone posts. I also want to incorporate fashion, all kinds of makeup and skincare; not just LimeLife. Even recipes, fitness and home decor. Plus, encouragement and devotionals. I'm hoping that later on maybe I can set up some bible studies. Anyway, my page was beginning to look like a mess. I hope this will organize everything better. I really want this to be an interactive page. A safe place to encourage and share. Who doesn't need a little of that everyday, right?

Today's outfit and makeup look actually came from a look that I seen on Cyndi Spivey. If you don't follow her, you should. She is a classy, trendy lady that has a heart for God. I will place her link at the bottom.

These pieces are actually some I've had for a while. The jacket is Worthingto faux leather in burgundy, size small.
It has cool little zippers at the cuff of the sleeves. Purchased at JCP in store. The blouse is a Victorian style high collar ivory, also Worthington. I bought this from JCP.com, size small. The pants are from the Gap. Skinny jeggings, black size 4. So comfortable! My pumps are also from JCP.com, a.n.a. is the brand. They have an array of colors in the style.

My makeup today,  I have on above is a complete LimeLife by Alcone look.
*foundation:  Shinto 1
*concealer: 0
*eyebrows: Ashing for Trouble eye shadow
*eyes: bronzer #4 and Ashing for Trouble
*cheeks: blush in Peachy
*contour: bronzer #4
*lip: lip liner Dark Nude, Down & Flirty lipstick
LimeLife setting spray, I did not use a powder today! I know it's shocking!

Well that's all I have today! I hope you all have a fabulous week and I hope your team wins tonight, lol. Thank you for stopping by to visit, I pray this helps or encourages you in some way. Don't forget to stop by Magnolia Lifestyle on Facebook. Check it out and leave a comment. Oh, and Cyndi Spivey's website is cyndispivey.com.

Blessings,

Dawn
